Spencer and Virginia Brewer opened Lavender Mountain Hardware in Rome (that's in Georgia) which called for a counted cross stitch sampler of their pretty Lavender Mountain logo. One problem: we don't do cross stitch.

So we got a box of wine glasses and painted the logo on a few for the grand opening back in 2000. The remainder of the box and the paints sat there on the kitchen table for a while…then we started picking up paint brushes and doodling around. We gave them out for graduations, hostess gifts, birthdays, and "thanks" to our neighbors for minding the dog while we were away. That led to glasses by the case and more doodling. Friends and family started requesting special orders. More glasses, more paints, more ideas.

Now, we figure, it's time our whimsical Girlfriends made their way into your home. We hope that you enjoy them often and find plenty of happy occasions to pass them on. And we promise not to bother with cross stitch samplers.
